YouTube Now Allows Creators to Opt Into or Opt Out of Training AI with their Videos
YouTube is now giving creators the ability to Opt Into or Out Of Training AI Models using their Content — with a New Advanced Setting
Training AI based on YouTube videos has been a big subject of debate since Sora was unveiled to the public (and now Google’s own Veo AI Video generator)
The question is — will this setting actually stop AI LLMs from training on YouTube Videos?
There’s already a lot of evidence out there to show existing models have trained on YouTube video data, especially from popular channels, for example Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) brought this up in a recent video — showcasing the fact that a plant he always has on his own desk appears to show up in Sora videos.
Google seems to be hearing the concern of some YouTubers & is now giving the option to allow or disallow AI training from third-parties.
Note an interesting take here is whether Google themselves is counted as a third party, haha — that would be quite the loophole. Although reading more about it seems to indicate that this would include them too.
We’re definitely in the world of AI video now & it’s growing rapidly!
Would you allow Google & Third Parties to train their AI on your YouTube Videos?
